FindLaw® Launches a Redesigned Home Page

In October 2005, FindLaw launched a new home page on its award-winning FindLaw.com site at http://www.findlaw.com. The new home page includes tabs so you can select the home page that meets your needs. If you’re a legal professional, click the For Legal Professionals tab. If you are part of the general public, or a small business professional, click the For the Public tab. Each page features an improved, user-friendly interface that helps users easily find the information that meets their needs. Highlights of the home page redesign include the following:

For the Public Home Page:

User-Friendly Design

The home page for consumers and small business owners has a look and feel that is accessible to those who do not have a background in law. It is designed to make it easy to find a lawyer, obtain in-depth information on common legal topics, and quickly access legal forms, state laws, and more.

Enhanced Lawyer Search

The new home page allows users to enter a legal issue and location (city and state or zip code) and quickly obtain a list of relevant attorneys from the FindLaw West Legal Directory®, the largest and most referenced online lawyer directory.

Expanded Access to Legal Information
The new home page provides improved access to popular FindLaw law centers, which allow you to quickly find the area of law you are interested in (e.g., accidents and injury, bankruptcy and debt, divorce and family law). These law centers are comprehensive one-stop resources that include user-friendly articles, answers to frequently asked questions, and links to relevant government agencies. Materials on FindLaw.com are free.

Tips and Tools

The FindLaw.com home page includes a new Tips and Tools section that provides easy access to helpful legal resources for the public and small business professionals, such as sample legal forms, state laws, information on courts, and a reference guide for understanding common areas of the law.

For Legal Professionals Home Page:

The new home page for legal professionals features a streamlined design that makes it easier to accomplish key daily tasks, including:

  • Conducting primary legal research
  • Finding and researching counsel with Thomson Legal Record
  • Staying informed on the latest legal news and commentary

FindLaw.com received the Webby award for Best Legal Web Site of 2005, and was named one of the “50 Coolest Sites on the Internet” by Time magazine.
