Helpful Terminology

Activity Tracker: Web interface where e-mail and call information from FindLaw products is reported monthly, with 24/7 access at http://www.findlawactivitytracker.com/.

Trackable Phone Number: A unique toll-free or local phone number that tracks calls from FindLaw products and routs them directly to the firm. The tracked calls are report in the Call Detail report of the Activity Tracker Web interface

Destination Phone Number: The trackable phone number routes calls directly to this phone number, usually the firm's main office phone number.

Contact Form: Prospective clients fill in contact form fields with their name, e-mail address, brief description of legal issue and more, and then submit to the firm for follow up. The firm receives the form via e-mail. E-mail form submissions are reported in the E-mail Detail report of the Activity Tracker Web interface.

General Questions

What is Activity Tracker?
Activity Tracker enables you to see how and when prospective clients are contacting you through unique trackable phone numbers and contact forms on your FindLaw products. Reports indicate calls and contact form submissions sent to your firm, which enable you to measure your return on investment and more precisely manage your FindLaw marketing program.

How can I access my Activity Tracker results?
Reports are available online 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, at http://www.findlawactivitytracker.com/.

What is included in my Activity Tracker?
Activity Tracker includes a Summary report of all contacts (calls and e-mails) from your FindLaw marketing program. The Call Detail report lists calls made through the unique trackable phone numbers, reporting the phone number the call came from, date/time of the call, name of the caller and other information. The E-mail Detail report shares contact forms submitted through your FindLaw products, reporting the date/time of the submission and all of the submitter's inputs into the form.

How do I change my password or user information?
The "My Profile" link, at the top right of each screen, allows you to reset your password.

What if I forgot my password?
Go to "Request your password" on http://www.findlawactivitytracker.com/.

Can I have multiple users at my firm access Activity Tracker?
Yes, we can set up multiple users. The user name is the e-mail address and the password is set by the user. To request additional users, please contact your Account Manager.

Who has access to my Activity Tracker?
Your FindLaw Sales Consultant and Account Manager have access which is limited to the data they need to properly support you. They do not share results or information contained in your Activity Tracker. FindLaw stores information to present back to you through your Activity Tracker Web interface. Please see our privacy policy for more details.

How current is the data in Activity Tracker?
The data available in Activity Tracker is updated twice a day.

How long will FindLaw keep my Activity Tracker data?
For active subscriptions, data is archived for 3 years. For inactive subscriptions, data is kept for 6 months.

When will I start to receive calls & e-mails and access to Activity Tracker?
Once your unique trackable phone numbers are implemented, you will be e-mailed a link to Activity Tracker. Any FindLaw products that contain the trackable phone numbers and/or have contact forms will start logging calls and e-mails to your Activity Tracker Web interface right away. Newly purchased FindLaw products will start logging calls and e-mails upon fulfillment and release of those products. You will see traffic and contacts increase over time.

What if I have more than one FirmSite?
You will see a summary of all of the visits, page views, calls, and e-mails received across all of your FindLaw marketing products.

How can I improve my results?
There are helpful resources and links at the bottom of each Activity Tracker screen, such as the "Top 10 Ways to Improve Your Web Presence." These materials are also available on http://www.lawyermarketing.com/. What is MyFindLaw and what am I able to access with my Activity Tracker login?
Your username and password for Activity Tracker provides free and instant access to case law, sample business contracts, FREE e-mail newsletters including daily opinion summaries, and the Thomson Legal Record on http://www.findlaw.com/.

Phone Number & Call Detail Questions

Do I need to change or terminate my firm's existing phone number in order to get Activity Tracker?
No, the trackable phone numbers will appear only on your FindLaw products and will seamlessly route calls directly to your firms existing phone number. No action is necessary on your behalf.

Do I need to update my business cards, letter head, and other materials that include my firm phone number?
No, the trackable phone numbers provided by FindLaw should only appear on your FindLaw products to help you better understand and track the performance of your FindLaw marketing program. You should keep your existing firm phone number on your business cards, letter head, and other firm marketing materials.


Can I just use my firm's existing phone number?
No, the new phone numbers are unique trackable numbers acquired for their ability to track calls. Because they only appear on your FindLaw products, we can track the calls that originated from your FindLaw marketing program. Unfortunately most phone numbers are not equipped with these tracking features.

Do Toll Free phone numbers support international calls?
No, Toll-Free phone numbers do not support international phone calls. If someone overseas attempts to call the Toll Free phone number, they will receive a message stating that the call cannot go through. It is recommended that you post your local phone number for international calls in addition to the Toll Free phone number for international callers.

Can I put the call tracking numbers on my other non-FindLaw marketing programs?
No, the trackable phone numbers provided by FindLaw are only to be used on your FindLaw products to measure the results of your FindLaw marketing program.

What if I want to keep my unique trackable phone number forever?
We can transfer the trackable phone number to your local or toll-free carrier. You would incur transfer fees.

Why don't I see names and addresses for some calls?
Some calls may be from cell phones. We are only able to report the caller's number, city and state with cell phone calls. From other numbers, the name and address associated with the phone number the caller uses to call you is reported. In some cases, the phone number may be unlisted and we may not receive all the information.

Are Local trackable phone numbers available in every state?
No, Local trackable phone numbers are not available in Alaska, Hawaii, Iowa, and Maine due to infrastructure restrictions. Toll Free trackable phone numbers are available as an alternative for those interested in Activity Tracker.

Contact Form & E-mail Detail Questions

From where is the information on the E-mail Detail report originated?
This information is exactly what the prospective client typed into the contact form on your FindLaw products. FindLaw displays the data for you and tracks the date and time of the submission.

Does FindLaw do anything to help me control e-mail spam?
Yes, FindLaw has several spam-controls in place. The spam-controls are monitored regularly to prevent as much spam from your FindLaw products as possible while still allowing your contact form to be user-friendly to the site visitor.
